Villa Nova
It’s been a while since we’ve been to a pizzeria, so this week we decided to head to Villa Nova in Worthington. I know Chloe isn’t a huge fan of piping hot pizza at the restaurant and prefers it to go and eating it at home. However, I researched Villa Nova’s menu ahead of time and saw that they had many different options other than pizza. I knew this would be a good one that we would all enjoy.
We arrived before the rush and the parking lot was already almost full. There was only a few tables open when we arrived. By the time we left there were people waiting outside for a table. I knew right from the beginning this place must be a good one. We did get a booth right away and ordered our drinks. They had a nice draft list, and even though I wanted the Columbus Brewing Company Bodhi (Double IPA), I had to be responsible since I was driving and get the CBC IPA instead. It came in a nice frosted mug and was delicious!
I had the kids take a look at the appetizers to see if they wanted something but they were more focused on figuring out their entrees so we skipped the snacks. Chloe went right for the pasta dishes and was asking me which noodle type was which. Of course I never know so I had her google them. She discovered that Rigatoni were the pipe looking noodles that she loves so that’s what she went with. It came with a choice of soup or salad and she went with the Wedding Soup, which is one of her favorites! Afterwards she said that the Wedding Soup might have been her favorite of the night. They also gave us bread sticks which they brought out with the soup. They weren’t quite as good as Olive Garden breadsticks, but they were still pretty good.
Alex was right behind Chloe with coming up with his dinner. I had a good feeling on what he might get. He takes after me I think as he seems to gravitate towards Lasagna whenever it’s an option on the menu. Today was the same as he went with the Lasagna. He too went for the Wedding Soup as his option. I knew I wasn’t going for the Lasagna so I’m glad he did so that I could try a bite. It was a good one which I may get next time.
I hadn’t looked at the menu for weeks when I had picked out Villa Nova. But after the kids both went with pasta, I HAD to try a pizza to see what it’s all about. I went with a custom one instead of one of their pre-made toppings. Megan and I are both pretty big fans of a Hawaiian type pizza so I went with Ham, Bacon, Pineapple, and Jalapeños. I was expecting to see some type of bacon crumble but instead they do small pieces of bacon strips! I was pleasantly surprised when it came out and couldn’t wait to take a bite. It was soooo good! They make one great pizza!
When we were looking at the menus to figure out our entrees, something caught my eye. I noticed that they had BREAD PUDDING! I kind of think maybe I knew this when I found this place 2 months ago but definitely forgot so it was a great surprise. After we put in our orders I asked our server if they made their own bread pudding. I didn’t even want to waste my time if it was something that came frozen and that they warm up in their convection oven. She said that yes, the bread pudding and chocolate cake are made homemade. After hearing this, I HAD to try it. I intentionally only had half my pizza to make sure I had room for the bread pudding. I’m so glad I did because it was AMAZING! It’s one of the best bread puddings I’ve had. I’m ready to go back to Villa Nova tomorrow!!
