This week’s Dining with Dad was almost chosen for us. We all really love The Barn and it has become our go to place to eat when it’s one of our birthdays. We have a tradition that I’m sure many families have, where the person with the birthday gets to pick where we go eat. Mine was Thursday, so we just waited a day to go out for my birthday and so The Barn was our selection for this week.

Chloe has been getting the same thing for the last several times we’ve gone to the Barn. She always goes for the Lobster Bisque as her main entree. She’ll then share fries from everyone else. After snacking on the rolls and the delicious maple butter that comes with them, this is more than enough for her. She doesn’t like the large croutons that are included so I always get to enjoy those.

I myself have a bit of a regular dish as well. I’ve had a few different meals there, with each being excellent. However, their St. Louis style ribs are just too good to choose anything else. They are a bit spicy, so if you don’t enjoy a little heat, you may want to pass on the ribs. You have to have quite an appetite to finish them all.

Alex mixes it up when we go and has probably tried more than any of us. This time was no different and he tried the New York strip, which he’d never had before. He usually gets Filet, as he doesn’t like any steak that is either fatty or tough. He loved the NY strip, which I had a feeling he would. He even started eating it without any steak sauce, which is a first for him. He’s starting to realize that if a steak is cooked well, you don’t need the steak sauce to give it an alternate flavor. I can see him getting this one again.
