This week’s Dining with Dad came about from Facebook of all things. I had a random post to join a group called “Chicken Wing Connoisseurs of Columbus” show up in my feed a couple weeks ago. In the post, the author was raving about Shakers Public House. We are all fans of wings so I thought this might be a good one for us to check out. The only downfall is that it’s on the other side of Columbus but it was a beautiful day so we cruised over in the Jeep with the top down.

I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous when we showed up. It looks like a bit of a shack from the outside. And then the front of the lot was coned off and had a couple motorcycles parked in there. I wasn’t sure if I just brought the kids to a biker bar or what! But as soon as we sat down, Alex was already talking about how much he liked the place. The music was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. It started with Regulate and went straight to Tennessee Whiskey. We really enjoyed the atmosphere.

We were waited on within a few minutes of sitting down. I ordered a draft beer which turned out to only be $1! Everyday between 5 – 6pm, they have “Power Hour” which offers $1 Domestics, well liquors, drafts, and moonshine. Had I known that I might have tried some moonshine! While we waited on our drinks we took a look at the appetizers. Chloe pointed out the Giant pretzel right away so when our server arrived we went with that. Alex says it’s the best soft pretzel he’s ever had.

I mentioned to the kids that I brought them there because the wings were highly rated. With that information we all decided on wings! Chloe always goes for the boneless and Alex and I always go for bone in. Chloe went for the Honey BBQ which is her go to everywhere. Alex went for Garlic Parmesan, all flats. I ordered the Nashville Hot and then the server explained that you can combine flavors. After I heard that I went ahead and added Manganero to it. We all agreed these were some of the best wings we’ve had.
