It’s the 14th Dining with Dad this year so of course we headed to Napa Kitchen & Bar. Be honest with yourself; did you ever notice that for all of 2025, we’ve been going alphabetically through restaurants for Dining with Dad? Go back and look! We started with Alqueria and thought since we started the year off with the letter A, why not start going through the alphabet. The kids didn’t catch on to my plan until a few into it, but then they looked forward to the next letter each time.

Alex worked on Friday, our normal Dining with Dad evening so we had to push it to Thursday. I already had a reservation for Friday so I just moved it to Thursday once I found out his schedule. Luckily I did because when we arrived at 5:30 for our reservation, some walk-ins were trying to get seated and the host said it would be 7:00 – 7:30 before they would be able to get in without a reservation.

Once we were seated, we ordered our drinks as we looked over the menu. This is restaurant week in Columbus where many restaurants offer a discounted prix fixe menu. This gave us an extra menu to look over so we took our time. After some grueling decision making, we finally decided what we would all get. Alex and I both went with the prix fixe menu. Due to this, we both got an appetizer.

Alex went with an appetizer while I went for a salad. Alex went for the wood fired brie which is something I was hoping to try, which I did. It was delicious! It wasn’t prepared how I was expecting but it was so good. I’m a huge fan of honey and it just added a sweetness that was fantastic. I’d highly recommend this one.

warm, melted brie, apricot, orange and cracked pepper preserves, toasted pistachio, honey, oven-fired bread

For my salad, I had a choice between the Simply Arugula or the Napa Greens. It’s hard to turn down bacon so I went with the Napa Greens. I’m not a huge fan of gorgonzola cheese, but the rest of the salad well made up for that. The candied pecans with the sherry vinaigrette were fantastic. And did I mention bacon? They probably could have used more bacon but it was still a really good salad. It was also really large as well, so well worth the money there.

granny smith apples, sherry vinaigrette

After we were finished with our appetizers, they finally brought out the entrees so Chloe could eat! She was between a couple of dishes. I pointed out one that I thought she might like and she thought about it long and hard. She likes pesto and they had a Chicken and Pesto dish that sounded really good. However, she went a different direction. She was a bit nervous going with her first choice because it had snap peas in it, which she’s allergic to. But when it came time to order, she ordered the Sesame Orange Salmon and asked them to make it without the peas and they said that would be no problem. She was very happy with her choice. She said that the orange sauce was her favorite part of it. She showed me how pink the salmon was and it was just glistening. It was prepared so well it must have been delicious. She offered a bite to me but it looked pretty small so I declined so she could have it all. Maybe next time I’ll get it and try it as she loved it.

Alex couldn’t quite finish his brie so he put it off to the side when his entree came out. There was two chicken dishes on the prix fixe menu and one was spicy with the Diavolo so he went with the other one, the Chicken Saltimbocca. He really seemed to enjoy it and let me try it as well. Given he already had the appetizer, I didn’t feel too guilty about having some of his. It was really good too. He said with one bite he got a big bite of sage which tasted grass! But other than that it was only good comments.

As I mentioned earlier, there was the Chicken Diavolo on the menu which I was really tempted with. However, I thought I’d venture out to something that I don’t get very often instead. Therefore I went with the Grilled Shrimp and Risotto. The shrimp were absolutely delicious! They had such a great grilled flavor to them. Chloe only really likes fried shrimp but I had her try one and she even liked it. Unfortunately the risotto was only so-so. It was a bit too thick for my liking. The kids actually were asking if it was the best risotto I’ve ever had and obviously had to say no, that the Lobster Risotto from Hell’s Kitchen was much better. Having said that, it wasn’t terrible, it just could be better with some better risotto. I was really hoping the sriracha cream would have given it some spice, but unfortunately it did not.

So remember that Alex and I both ordered from the restaurant week prix fixe menu, so that means we still get dessert!! They had two options to choose from, but there was only one option in our eyes as there was something that both Alex and I absolutely love. That’s right, they had bread pudding!!!! I really think that’s why we both ordered off the prix fixe menu to be honest. It was so good! I was so full that I only had 2 bites. I had to eat the ice cream as that wasn’t going to make it home in this 90 degree heat. Alex gave his ice cream to Chloe and didn’t have a single bite yet so we both have dessert at home waiting for us! And I can’t wait to get into it! Yummmm.. I highly recommend it.
