This week we visited Melt Bar and Grilled over in Easton. This was Alex’s choice and was inspired by our time at the Ohio State game last weekend. Before getting way over priced nacho’s, Alex decided to get a way over priced grilled cheese sandwich with bacon crumbles ($10). He thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich and it got him in the mood for more (and better) grilled cheese options so he decided we should go to Melt for the next Dining with Dad.

The inside of this place is very well decorated in my opinion. I really like the giant neon signs in front of you when you walk in the front door. We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we walked in and were given the choice of inside or outside seating. Alex and Chloe discussed it for a bit and finally decided on outside.

It was a perfect night to eat outside, so I was glad they chose that. We did have to shuffle seats as the sun was setting and coming underneath the umbrella but it all worked out well and everyone was eventually content with their seat. As we sat and enjoyed our beverages, we had a look over the vast menu to try to decide what we all wanted.

Let’s start with Alex’s selections since Melt was his pick. Did you catch that plural? That was not a typo. He couldn’t decide between the Wake & Bacon or the Mighty Macaroni, so he ordered BOTH! Each came with fries so he just made two plates, one for his sandwiches and one for his fries. Who thinks he ate it all? Leave a comment and let Alex know.

As a long time follower of this blog, you know Chloe does not like cheese so what could she possibly get at a restaurant with a specialty of grilled cheese sandwiches? I checked out the menu before we went to make sure there was something good on the menu that I thought she was going to like. After looking through the menu, she picked out what I thought she would, the Melt Classic Fish Fry. But, she also couldn’t decide between that and the Backyard Pork BBQ sandwich. Therefore, I went ahead and ordered the Pork as my meal and got it without the cheese so we could split the two meals together. I substituted the fries with the “sweet slaw” since I knew Alex was going to have plenty of fries for everyone! I personally didn’t like the slaw and Chloe didn’t either. It had a bit of a tang to it that I just didn’t care for. All in all it was a very good meal and we brought some of Chloe’s fish and fries home for lunch the next day.

Sitting outside for dinner, the kids were listening and viewing the fountains the whole time so of course after eating we had to go visit them in person. We were all so stuffed we wanted to walk around a bit so we were also able to go do a little shopping afterwards. As it gets later and later into the year, there’s probably not too many more of these nights were we can comfortably walk around after dinner outside so we’re taking advantage of it while we can.

I’m thinking he definitely could not finish all but just about did…maybe just a little left over-teenagers pack it in!

Winner winner chicken dinner! You are correct. He came close but didn’t quite make it. It was funny when he was ordering because everything was labeled “Half” or “Whole” so he was going to get two meals because he’d just get “Half”. He didn’t realize it was just the sandwich and that each still came with sides. I think the Wake & Bacon was his favorite as he finished that one, but Dad had to finish the other for him.

Alex could be a candidate for man vs food with that super bite
