Mackenzie River Pizza
This week’s Dining with Dad was a bit of a special request by Alex and Chloe. The last time they were with me, they had asked if I could find a place that serves poutine. I think the last time they had it was when we were in Chicago and went to Harry Caray’s restaurant. It was not the traditional poutine that they like so it’s been even longer since they’ve had what they really wanted. I looked at several different places around Columbus and each restaurant had a slightly different take on it. I finally came across Mackenzie River Pizza which had the traditional poutine that they were expecting, so that is where we went this week.
What’s that pineapple doing there next to the fries? That’s the cheese curds. As you know, Chloe is not a fan of cheese at all, so we asked for the curds on the side. Normally, this will come on top of the fries which you’ll see in the picture in the online menu. Alex and I just added them to ours and it was delicious. If you’ve never had poutine, or if you enjoy the dish, definitely check this place out.
I’ll give you one guess what Chloe ordered for her meal. Did you guess chicken fingers? Winner winner chicken dinner; It’s always her go to and she went for it yet again.
Alex had asked for a kids menu when we arrived as well but didn’t find anything he wanted. He was full of congestion so he ordered an Orange Juice to drink instead of the traditional Sprite. He finally decided on the meatloaf which looked great! I almost thought about getting that myself but since he was getting it, and the fact that he rarely finishes his meals, I knew I could probably get a few bites of it if I wanted. He only ate about half of it and said that he couldn’t really taste it because he’s so stuffed up. Chloe and I had funny messing with him accusing him of having the Rona.
Given that the name of the restaurant has pizza in the name, I decided to give one of their pizza’s a try. There’s so many unique pizza options, it was very hard to decide. I didn’t see it on the printed menu in the restaurant, but when I looked online before we went, I remember seeing that you could do half and half. So after a long decision making process, I finally decided on two choices. I went with half Smokin Q’ and half Hot Hawaiian. The only bad thing was that I could only finish half of it! It was so so good! As I’m writing this I’m thinking about warming up the leftovers!
One last little tidbit about tonight’s Dining with Dad. Chloe had a special request for my outfit tonight. She requested that I wear my “Rad Dad” T-shirt because I’m a rad dad for listening to their request and taking them somewhere for poutine. How could I not oblige that request? I can only hope that I’m still a “rad dad” for years to come as the kids get older.
Yea, you’re a Rad Dad!!
You ARE a “Rad Dad”! Love you, son. ❤️ Looks like another successful Dining With Dad!!!
