Little Sicily’s
Welcome to the first Dining with Dad of 2022! Being that this was the first of the year, I thought I’d go with a kid’s staple food, PIZZA!!! As I planned this earlier in the week, I didn’t think about the fact that Chloe gets pizza a lunch every Friday. Luckily, if that’s the term for it, she complained today that the pizza at lunch wasn’t any good. So this week, we traveled over to Reynoldsburg to Little Sicily’s.
As soon as we walked in, we were instructed to seat ourselves. Alex and Chloe found a seat towards the back. It didn’t take long for the kids to find some appetizers that they wanted. Alex is really into fried pickles and they have fried pickle chips on the menu! Chloe was quick to see fries as well. But we were there for the pizza!!
We were waited on very shortly after we sat down. She took our drink orders and quickly arrived back with them. She then let us know that pizza’s were running at around an HOUR wait!! It turns out we were in need of some of those appetizers after all. So both Alex and Chloe got what they wanted.
We tossed around the idea of splitting a pizza but quickly realized we all wanted something a little different. Luckily they had a “mini” size pizza so we each could get exactly what we wanted. Chloe’s go to is usually sausage but tonight it was pepperoni. As you know, her pizza can’t be overly cheesy and this was not. She didn’t once complain about tasting too much cheese. I can tell you first hand that the pepperoni was delicious as I snuck a piece when Chloe had to go to the ladies room! I didn’t think she’d notice, but shortly after returning, she busted me!
I’ve started to notice that Alex likes to take more chances with his food during each Dining with Dad. He doesn’t want to go with the safe choice anymore. I really like his adventurous side! Given that, you know Alex didn’t go for a Pepperoni or Sausage. He went with the BBQ Chicken pizza! Alex never went to the bathroom so I actually had to ask him to try his. It was so good and a nice change of pace from regular pizza. I’m glad he didn’t eat it all as we brought some home to enjoy tomorrow!
It was my turn to decide on my choice. Given that the kitchen was an hour behind already, I felt the pressure to decide quickly. I saw several to choose from but quickly went with the Supreme, a tried and true classic! Next time, and oh yes, there will be a next time, I’ll have to try something else. The Supreme was very good though, with very generous size sausage balls! I don’t think I’ve had a pizza with such large pieces. And it came with tomatoes, which is rare in my experience. All in all, it was a very good pizza!
Not related to the pizza, but a funny quip nonetheless. As we were heading home, we were listening to Counting Crows and the song was “Round Here”. There’s several round-a-bouts near our home and we were traveling through one as the song was playing. Chloe started giggling and said, “They said Round here as we were going Round the round-a-bout!” I thought it was funny.
It all looks delicious!!!
