Koble Grill

I love the fact that the kids still get so excited for Dining with Dad, even after more than a year of doing it. When I was taking Alex to work on Sunday, he asked me if I had this week’s DWD location picked out. I hadn’t so I had asked him if he had any cuisine suggestions for this week. He mentioned wanting Greek. After visiting Cafe Istanbul a few DWD’s ago, I knew that Chloe wasn’t really into Greek. But what if I could find something that had Greek food, but also Chloe’s favorite cuisine, Italian. I found it in Koble Grill, Greek and Italian Eats.

When we walked in, we found a little sign that said you can seat yourself at the bar for full service ordering. There was plenty of tables in there as well. So we assumed we could just seat ourselves. I noticed a larger sign that said “Order Here” with an arrow pointing to the left of the restaurant, behind the bar. I pulled up their website on my phone and found information that it’s a self-ordering restaurant and when your food is ready, they’ll bring it to your table. It was a bit untraditional for a menu large enough to have a sit-down feel with plenty of appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, etc. A little confused I walked up to the order area to get a clear idea of how things operate, and to ask about any happy hour deals! There were no food deals, but I did get $1 off my beer(s). They will take your card and keep a tab open so that you can order at will for your appetizers, drinks, entree’s, and desserts.

After figuring out what was going on I went back to our table to see what the kids wanted. There were no menus at the tables so I had sent them a link to the menu before I went up so they could start looking at what they wanted. By the time I got back, they had decided they wanted the Spicy BBQ wings. So I went up and ordered our wings along with our drinks.

As we waited for our wings to come out, we went through the menu to find what we all wanted. Actually Alex already had his figured out by the time I got back to the table. Given that he wanted Greek, I’m sure you can guess what he wanted; that’s right, the fast food of Greek, the Gyro. His only request was no tomatoes. Chloe didn’t eat much of the wings so Alex and I ate most of them. I asked him if he wanted to split a meal in case he was too full to eat the gyro but he insisted he could still have his own meal. Surprisingly he did eat most of the gyro, all but about two bites.

Chloe on the other hand was a bit more indecisive. Her issue was less about what she wanted, but rather understanding what some of the menu items were. We looked at some of the shrimp, salmon, and grouper options but ultimately she went back to her tried and true dish, spaghetti and meatballs. She didn’t really care for the meatballs, which they give you four rather large ones so I have lunch for tomorrow now! She did like the pasta though so it worked out.

I’m a big fan of gyro meat as well as Alex. I almost went with a gyro myself, but really didn’t think Alex would eat much of his so I could have some of his if I wanted some gyro. After looking at several options, I saw they had a Greek flatbread that had gyro meat on it which sounded delicious. I’m so glad I went with this. It was the best flatbread I’ve had anywhere. I would probably get this again if I go back.

This was a very good restaurant right in the heart of downtown Westerville. It was funny, as we were walking from the parking lot to the restaurant Alex was asking if there was a college near there because he wanted to live there! I told him yes, Otterbein. Sounds like we’ve found his college!
