Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce – Part One
I was discussing with Alex and Chloe last night what cuisine we were going to have for Dining with Dad today and they didn’t seem real thrilled for it. I’ll not mention where it was going to be as it may eventually land on DWD. So last night as I was watching March Madness, I started exploring restaurants online. I ran across Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce and was intrigued by the name so I looked at their website and knew this had to be the next Dining with Dad.
We were able to get seated right away as we had reservations, although I’m not entirely sure they were necessary at 5:30pm, which is when we arrived. There were several tables open, although it did fill up as we were eating. We got our drinks and started looking over the menu. Alex was first to spot the fried pickles, so of course we had to order those. The batter was really light and seasoned well. The ranch dip wasn’t necessary, but was a great addition.
Chloe looked over the kids menu and was a little thrown off by the fact that the chicken tenders were “cornflake crusted”. She thought it was strange to have cereal on the chicken. She finally decided on the Coney Island from the adult menu, which was basically the same as the kids, but obviously more food. She pretty much ate it all though and was stuffed so it worked out.
Alex took his time looking over all the menu options. He was intrigued by the Donut Burger, but thought that was a little bit too much. He narrowed it down between two choices. The first one, which he didn’t choose was The Gotham. I let him know that blue cheese has a distinct taste and that he may want to order it without that. I think that made him go with his other choice, The Was. Our server let us know that The Was is her favorite burger. It was very sloppy, but it was very delicious (I got to have a little).
Chloe actually had another choice that she was curious about. She was also looking at the Fuhgeddaboudit! This is a chicken and waffles dish. I told her that was what I was thinking about getting which excited her as she could get her chicken tenders but then try mine to see if she likes it. The verdict: She liked it! As did I. I liked that it came with both the syrup and the spicy honey so I got two different flavors in the same dish. If you like chicken and waffles, you won’t be disappointed with this one!
So now we need to talk about why this was labeled “Part One”. We had every intention on ordering a Skyscraper Shake as seen on the menu. In fact, we each already picked out which one we were going to get. But we were so full from dinner, that no one thought they could eat the milkshake. Well, being too full is never a problem for me, but with the kids skipping I decided too as well. The absolutely only negative comment i have is the fact that they don’t put pictures of these shakes on their menu. You’ll have to look at their website to see what some of them look like, but they look AMAZING! Here’s one from their website:
So this is only Part One as we’ll go back just for the milkshakes. When we do, I’ll be sure to update you with a Part Two. Now, if you’re still reading, and you’re over the age of 21, pay attention! So downstairs is a family friendly cafe with great food, which we’ve established already. But if you look at their website, you’ll see that upstair they offer a Burlesque show, either with dinner or just drinks. This is offered on the weekends only. As Dining with Dad is a family friendly experience, this won’t be reviewed here, but to say that Dad isn’t going at some point would be a fib! Feel free to leave a comment if you’d like to come with me!
Well looking at that milkshake you need to go for it when you’re hungry…it would be your meal! 😮😂
I was thinking the same thing!
