This week I had a couple of options to choose from. I decided to give the kids the choice of cuisine and they chose sliders. So we headed over to Pickerington to Hangry City Grille and Spirits. On the way over Alex was asking if this was “The Melt” of sliders. His thinking was that just like The Melt has many different grilled cheese, that this place will have many different sliders. I told him yes, that this would be a good analogy. I’m not sure if that was in Chloe’s mind or not, but once we got there and were seated we started looking around and she mentioned that it looked like Melt. I asked her why it reminded her of Melt and she said the funny decorations!

We arrived at the restaurant around 5:15pm. There were only two tables open so we were able to get seated right away. The timing was perfect as people continued to roll in after we arrived. Our table was right by the door so we could hear the wait times go from 15 min for the first table to 45 min by the time we left. There’s only about 8-10 tables plus about 10 seats at the bar.

After getting seated, our server arrived very quickly. Being our first time he walked us through the menu and told us about the slider of the month, the McLovin, which was a fried chicken slider with marina and mozzarella cheese. As he ran off to get our drinks we had time to decide on an appetizer, the fried pickles. The kids love fried pickles and had a good idea before arriving that they would choose this.

Fried Pickles

Chloe isn’t really into sliders too much so I had a feeling she may or may not like this place. Obviously her first concern was that the fries and tots both come with an herb parmesan seasoning. We asked if we could get them without the seasoning and they were able to do that. She decided on doing the two slider combo with the fries. The kids are fans of Parks and Recreation so of course they were attracted immediately to the Ron Swanson. She also wanted something fairly “normal” so she went for the Danny. She wasn’t a huge fan of either one but ate more of the Ron Swanson than the Danny. She actually traded me the Danny for some of mine.

Alex’s first choice was the slider of the month, the McLovin. Not sure exactly if it was from the food itself or just the name. He had to show Chloe the Hawaiian driver’s license of McLovin from Superbad. He also went for the Ron Swanson and lastly for the Bluto. He asked about the Whiskey on it before ordering, I think making sure he was allowed to get it. He commented on the Ron Swanson and how it didn’t have any beef patty at all. Clearly he didn’t read the description! Classic Alex right there. He did like the garlic aioli though and was scooping every bit of it that fell on his tray with pieces of bacon from his slider. He gave his dinner an 8/10 he said.

I probably would have went for the McLovin as well but had a strong feeling that Alex would get full and not eat all of his. Exactly as I thought, he didn’t eat all his so I did get to try it and it was delicious. My first choice was the Monroe. BBQ pulled pork on top of a burger is just too good to pass up! Second, I went for the Telenovela. I’m a huge fan of chorizo and the slider was good, but I was hoping for a bit more chorizo on it. Lastly I chose the Pensatucky. Isn’t all chicken supposed to be healthy? Maybe throwing on fried pickles, cheese, and bacon negates some of that? It was another hit in my book. All of the sliders were great in my opinion. It was great to have many different flavors in one dish. I’d definitely like to try Hangry City again sometime.

Wow…fancy sliders, who knew? Looked delicious. Those kids are growing too fast though. Chloe’s loosing her girlish facial features and is on her way to being a pretty teen. You’ll have to keep an eye 👁 on her! I can’t believe how much they’ve grown since Christmas. Love y’all.
    😘❤️
