Gahanna Grill
This week’s Dining with Dad was not the original choice but more of an improvisation. I had already chosen this week’s location which was about 35-40 minutes away. Alex had asked if he/we could go to the Gahanna high school game so that changed the plans a bit. I didn’t want to be in a rush so I came up with Gahanna Grill which is much closer. We parked up near the high school and then just walked down since it was such a nice night.
Gahanna Grill is a seat yourself establishment. We headed through the bar area into the inside dining room and found an empty booth. They have a nice patio as well but I think the kids were a little warm from the walk so they wanted to eat inside. They immediately commented on how they liked the inside. They really like the old time diner feel. Chloe compared it to some places in Chillicothe that she likes to go to when visiting her Grandma.
We were waited on very shortly after we sat down. While waiting on our drinks we started going through the menu. Chloe was rather quick on finding what she wanted. She gravitated to the chicken tenders, as she typically does. It comes with very tasty fries. Chloe’s art class used to be right next to Gahanna Grill and some of her friends’ family would go over and get some fries while they waited for art class to be over. They are that good!
So did anyone notice the table and that it says Beanie Burger? You can read about this on their website, and so I told Alex about it. I had had it before so I knew he would like it. I was successful in talking him into getting it and he loved it. He liked the slaw that was included on the burger as well, which was my only worry. Luckily he didn’t eat it all so I got a few bites!
I was originally planning on getting the Beanie Burger as well. But given the fact that I had already tried it and gambling on the fact that Alex wouldn’t eat all of his, I decided to go for something different. I still wanted a burger though so it was fairly narrowed down. I enjoy spicy food so I went with the “Some like it hot” burger. While it was very good, I was actually a little disappointed in the spice. The sriracha mayo was lacking and soaked into the bun. Definitely could have used alot more. Next time, I’ll ask for some on the side or something as I’d be willing to try it again.
I was so glad Alex had the night off work for my birthday so we could do the traditional Friday night Dining with Dad. The kids loved that too as they like to look forward to it during the school day, knowing it’s coming when they get home. This was one of the best DWD’s.
Half you had a great Birthday!!
