Anyone that knows Chloe, knows she absolutely loves Sushi. There was a period of time where it seemed she was getting it once a week, even if it was from the in-store sushi bar in Kroger, which isn’t too bad actually if you’ve never tried it. With many of the sushi having crab sticks in them, Alex usually doesn’t get any since he’s allergic to shellfish. However, when looking over their menu online when planning this one, I noticed that they had some rolls with chicken! I’d never seen chicken in a sushi roll before. I thought this would be perfect for Alex.

Alex and Chloe were both rather excited when we showed up. Alex was actually anxious to try some sushi. He joked about getting some octopus but didn’t get nearly that daring. We were able to snag a booth at the back of the restaurant which was nice and quiet. We discovered as we headed out that there was a jazz guitarist up front playing at just the right volume to enjoy and not have to yell to hear each other. I gave Alex some money to put in the tip jar as he wanted to support other jazz musicians.

So here we go, time for the sushi! Alex did in fact get a tempura chicken roll and then he got the “Rainbow roll”. Not sure if he read what it was or just liked the picture. The rainbow roll is Tuna, Salmon, White Tuna, Tobiko, Avocado outside: California roll inside. Funny enough he really enjoyed the Tobiko. He called it the “salt” on the sushi. As we were driving home he told Chloe and I that he had “roe in his braces”. First world problems right there!

Chloe gravitated right away to the California roll, as I think any kid does. At first she wanted two of those, but I talked her into trying one with some seafood in it. She went with the shrimp tempura which is one of my favorites. I was hoping to try some of hers, but she was a clean plater and ate all of her plate plus a slice of Alex’s chicken tempura. Oh and she ate about half of the chicken fried rice we got as well. When she likes something, she can eat!

I of course enjoyed the other half of the chicken fried rice along with a cup of Miso soup. Alex and Chloe were both inquisitive about the Tofu and what it tasted like so I made them both try it. Chloe thought it tasted like Jello and Alex said it reminded him of egg whites. I was actually surprised neither of them spit it out. Expecting to “cleanup” after them on their sushi, I only got one roll myself. I wanted something with a little spice to it so I went for the “Sexy on the beach” which is “Spicy crunch salmon and crabstick on the inside. Top with white tuna, tuna, avocado, sweet chili and wasabi mayo.” It was just as delicious as I imagined when looking at the picture of it in the menu.

They have such a large menu of sushi that you could keep going back and getting new things for quite a long time. Because of this, I know we’ll be heading back again anytime we get an itch for sushi.
