Flanagan’s Pub
Sometimes you just have to stay local. And by local, I mean just 4 miles down the road. We actually had a different restaurant picked for this week but Chloe had been wanting to try this local favorite for a long time. We actually stopped by the weekend before. However, after getting from the parking lot to the front door, we found a sign saying that it was closed for a private party, which apparently they do quite often. Given that it was open this time, we decided to take this opportunity to give it a try.
We seated ourselves and Alex and Chloe decided on the back corner near the fireplace, not currently running given the time of year. I went for the view of the TV just above Chloe so I could have a little entertainment while they were on their phones, which as every parent knows, is the typical scene at just about every restaurant we visit. I was able to get them off their phones to snap a couple pictures of them though.
Chloe is a huge fan of fish and chips. I’d say it’s probably second on her list of “bar foods” next to chicken fingers/tenders but she’ll usually go for the fish if it’s an option. This was the whole reason she wanted to go here after I showed them both the menu online a couple weeks before. It lived up to her expectations and she really enjoyed it.
Alex and I decided to go with the burgers, specifically the Blacklick Burger. When there’s a burger named off of where we live, we HAVE to try it. When we are in Topsail, there’s a restaurant we eat lunch at every year and we get the Dugan burger, named after the street we live(ed) on. Anyway, the Blacklick Burger was pretty good. I personally thought it was a bit dry and will probably get something else next time but it wasn’t terrible. Alex enjoyed it. The fries were great though!
[…] smaller portion (and smaller price!). She said it was much better than what she had when we went to Flanagan’s. We were talking about the fake newspaper lining and how over in England they would use newspapers […]
