Fado Irish Pub
When it’s the week of St. Patrick’s Day, it’s only appropriate that we visit an Irish restaurant for Dining with Dad this week. We headed over to Easton for which is surprisingly my very first visit to Fado Irish Pub. I say that it’s surprising because I’m not sure if you know or not, but it’s a very popular spot to watch soccer. According to ColumbusSports.org, Fado’s is known as the spot to watch Chelsea, which is my favorite Premier League team.
We found a seat to the left of the bar and I immediately asked the kids what they thought of the interior. It’s very unique in that they kind of divide it into “rooms” with windows in between. Chloe mentioned that we were at the “Garrison”. This is a reference from Peaky Blinders which I turned the kids onto. As we sat there we looked at the Happy Hour menu and besides ordering an Irish beer, we decided on the corned beef rolls as an appetizer. Megan made us all Corned Beef and Cabbage for St. Patricks Day and I think I was the only one that truly loved it. Corned beef that’s not shredded obviously can be tough but it’s still so delicious! Thanks Megan! Because the kids didn’t really like it, I surprised they wanted this one. Alex picked it out but Chloe agreed to try it. We all loved it! The corned beef was basically shredded so you got all the flavor with none of the toughness. The slaw was a great compliment as well. I’d highly recommend them.

I’ll start with Alex this time, since he was the first to decide, but also since I always start with Chloe when writing this blog. He ended up stealing what I was planning on getting all week and ordered the Shepherd’s Pie. He kept trying to convince Chloe to get the Chicken Pot Pie so they could both have pie. It got her thinking for sure. He added the side salad to it. He really liked it and so did I. McGuire’s in Destin still has the best I’ve had, but this was a close second.

So we already foreshadowed a bit about what Chloe might get. She was considering the Pot Pie since Alex was pushing her towards it. However, in the end she was a little nervous to try something new like that. She ultimately went with the Fish and Chips. She was very happy with her decision as it was a very good Fish and Chips. The batter was delicious and the fish was very meaty as well, just as it should be. I would definitely try it when I go back.

Since Alex stole my dish, I had to find something else. Well, I didn’t have to but it made sense to try something else and just steal a bite or two of his, which I did! I wanted to keep it Irish so I stayed away from the ribs. I looked at the Irish Breakfast and probably should have went for that. The word “Guinness” got me and so I ordered the Guinness Mac and Cheese. I added the Buffalo Chicken which was the saving grace of the dish. The Mac and Cheese was really dry and didn’t have much cheese at all. I was pretty disappointed with this one. The chicken was good though so it was salvageable. If you’re looking for a good mac and cheese, you may want to stay away from this one and head somewhere else. To offset this, i ordered a Guinness draft so I still won!
