It’s Thanksgiving Week! I had some extra vacation days with work so since the kids were off school starting on Wednesday, I decided to take those days off as well. Since we had all day Wednesday together and Alex didn’t work, we decided this would be the day for Dining with Dad this week. We never have done breakfast food before so I ran the idea past the kids and they were both on board. Therefore, this week we headed to Westerville to Delaney’s Diner.

When we walked in they had a chalkboard with specials on it. Their soup of the day was chicken noodle which I pointed out to Chloe as she loves a good chicken noodle soup. Sure enough, she ordered a cup of it as an appetizer before her meal. I was going to try it but it was gone in an instant! So evidently it was delicious!

I was expecting Chloe to go for the pancakes for sure. That is her go to breakfast food. She surprised me when she mentioned getting an omelette. She asked if she could get it without cheese of course and I told her that would be no problem. She asked me if I could order it as she always feels like she’s bothering the server with customizations of the food choices. She went with the Western omelette, minus the cheese.

Western Omelette

Alex was taking a while to decide, which was fine since Chloe was enjoying her soup before we ordered anyway. He was going back and forth between the meal with the pork and the meal with the steak. Ultimately he went with the steak and ordered the Big Daddy’s Breakfast. I was also looking at that, so that helped me decide on something else. While he didn’t finish the entire thing, he did get really close. He even ate the biscuit he got as his bread choice. I think I was able to enjoy about 2 bites of his steak and it was pretty good.

Country fried steak piping hot and crispy! Smothered in sausage gravy with two eggs cooked to order, shredded hash brown and a biscuit.

Since Alex got the steak, I went back to my other option, an omelette. I think I would have maybe gotten the pork tenderloin but wasn’t in the mood really for the gravy. But you just can’t go wrong with throwing a bunch of breakfast meats and cheese into eggs! I went with the Meat Lover’s Omelette with pepper jack cheese to spice it up a little. It was delicious! I think with all the new scheduling around Alex’s work, we may have to do some of these Dining with Dad’s on Saturdays so we can breakfast more often!
