Cap City Fine Diner
Can you believe that we started Dining with Dad a year ago? Our very first DWD was at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, Hudson 29. To celebrate a year of these adventures, I decided to visit another Cameron Mitchell restaurant that we really enjoy, Cap City Fine Diner. Chloe loves this place so much, she usually makes it the restaurant to visit for her birthday dinner every year. She made sure I got a picture of the giant gum ball machine that they have right inside the front door.
Every time we would visit Cap City, I would always get the meatloaf. Chloe would usually get the chicken tenders but at some point in time, she asked if she could try my meatloaf. One bite and she was HOOKED! They even have meatloaf on this kids menu. She started to get that, but quickly realized that it just wasn’t a big enough portion for her. Ever since, he go-to meal for the last couple years has been the adult size meatloaf. Today was no different, and she got her meatloaf!
Alex doesn’t really have a go-to at Cap City. He decided to try something new off the menu this time and went with the Triple Decker Grilled Cheese. He’s really been into salad lately, and if you read about our last DWD, you’ll remember he stole bites of my salad. So after ordering our meals, he decided he wanted the kids caesar salad as well. He ate every bite of the salad, but unfortunately he didn’t like the sauce on the triple decker so only ate 1/4 of it.
Unfortunately I had to skip the meatloaf this time. I’m headed to Miami beach here in a few weeks so I need to start watching what I eat so I’m halfway presentable on the beach! That’s not to say I didn’t steal a couple bites of Chloe’s meatloaf and maybe a couple fries. I decided to go with the Roasted Chicken Greek Salad, with caesar dressing. This salad had so much flavor going on with the feta cheese, olives, peperoncini, red onion. The tomatoes and cucumber were great too, just don’t add much flavor like the rest. I was very happy with my healthy dinner.
We had yet another great Dining with Dad. I’m looking forward to what the next year brings us on these adventures. I’m getting very excited about the weather starting to warm up as I want to focus this year on finding great patio locations. So if you have recommendations for great patio restaurants, please leave a comment and let me know.
