Bonefish Grill
This week’s Dining with Dad location was a last minute selection. I actually had something else picked out weeks in advance but then I a received notification that Bonefish Grill had a special going on for the easter season every Friday and that this would be the last day for this certain dish. I knew that Chloe would love this dish so I made a late morning switch-a-roo.
We had a reservation for 5:30 but probably didn’t need it. We were the only table our server had so he was very attentive to us. In fact he would arrive so often to our table that we joked about how we think he was ducking down behind the plants watching us, waiting to see when he should pop over. We were not in any rush so I had the kids pick an appetizer from the menu. While they were deciding we ordered and received our drinks. It was a very long week of work for me so I decided to splurge on a Smoked Old Fashioned.
Alex can’t have shellfish due to being allergic so that ruled out some items. They had narrowed it down to the Ahi Tuna Poke and the Tempura Crunch Sashimi Tuna. Chloe pushed Alex to make the decision and he was having a tough time doing so. I think our server popped up from a rabbit hole like two times before Alex made up his mind. I think the “crunch” was the winning factor here so that’s what he decided. The sriracha sauce was so good and luckily the kids didn’t want any of the sauce so I got it all.
I was curious if Chloe could pick out what I thought she would want. They had a one page paper menu with the specials listed so I gave that to her to look at while Alex and I looked at the regular menus. She didn’t pick it out as quickly as I thought as she started randomly guessing I think but she eventually found it and sure enough that’s what she ordered. I think not having pictures and having to read the descriptions is what took her longer. I showed her a picture of it on my phone and that sold her for sure. She got the Angler’s Catch which was tempura crusted fried cod along with panko-breaded jumbo shrimp server with fries and cole slaw.
Tonight was a very indecisive night for Alex. Not only did he have a tough time deciding on the appetizer, he struggled coming up with what he wanted for his meal. I think the server’s attentiveness was making him nervous as well, giving him the perception that he had to order quickly. I kept reassuring him to just take his time and make sure he gets what he wants. He finally decided on the parmesan-crusted rainbow trout, which he ordered with fries and cole slaw.
I started my order off with another cocktail. Did I mention it was a stressful week of work? :). I was perusing the drinks special card that was laying on the table and the coconut drink caught my eye. I’m a sucker for anything coconut. So I ordered a Coconut Crush.
I had the rainbow trout the last time I visited Bonefish Grill so I was looking for something else this time. I was planning on getting the Poke bowl before we went, but figured since we already did some tuna for the appetizer I would go with something else for dinner. I almost went with the tacos as they sounded so good, but decided to go a little lighter and went with the Mahi-Mahi and Shrimp. The mahi-mahi was a touch over cooked and not quite as moist as maybe it should have been but it was ok. The shrimp were very flavorful and so overall it was pretty good. I went with the garlic whipped potatoes and cole slaw for my sides which were both delicious.
