Hounddog’s Pizza
As most of the serious followers know, we try to do Dining with Dad on Friday’s. The one problem with that during the school year is that Friday at school is pizza day. Obviously most people won’t mind having pizza twice a day, but I do try to stay away from pizza if I can because of that reason. This week not only did the kids have Friday off, but I was also out of town until Saturday so we couldn’t do it until Saturday night. This made this week a perfect week for pizza. Therefore, we headed to Hounddog’s Pizza over near Ohio State campus.
We were seated fairly soon after walking in and were seated right around the corner from the entrance. The entrance has a big wooden door with a hound dog on it which is very unique. The kids were a little disappointed with our seat in that it was the only seat in the place that didn’t have a table light. It was rather dark but didn’t bother me as much as it did them.
The kids were given their Sprites and I got my water but my beer didn’t come for about 15 minutes. Our server said there was some mixup at the bar and hence the delay. I was kinda bummed as I only had one beer and after seeing that it was only $2 on my receipt, I definitely would have snagged at least one more at that price! We went ahead and put in an appetizer order after getting our drinks. After scanning the menu, Chloe decided on the soft pretzel bites which come with either queso or mustard. Alex decided on the mustard. We thought it was a little funny about how they resemble Buckeye’s and we were down on OSU campus.
While we snacked on the pretzels we decided on the pizza to share. We decided on the smokin’ joes crust which was hand tossed with a garlic butter on it. Alex mentioned how much he enjoyed the crust because it tasted like garlic bread. Since Chloe doesn’t like pizza that is too cheesy, I asked if we could do half “light cheese” and half normal cheese. Unfortunately they don’t allow that, as it has to be the same for the entire pizza. I was going to go with light cheese but Alex seemed a bit disappointed with that and Chloe said normal was ok. Luckily the normal cheese wasn’t too cheesy for Chloe and she was able to enjoy it as well. We went with a make your own pizza and had pepperoni, bacon, sausage, onion, and green pepper. It was so good we were already talking about going back before we even left the table.
On our way in we noticed a car with a hound dog on top of it. I asked the kids if they wanted to go get their picture with it and of course they said yes. So last but not least, the Hounddog car.
