This week’s Dining with Dad was a very last minute decision. We were planning on heading downtown but after looking up the location’s parking situation, I realized it was going to be hunting for street parking somewhere. It was already raining and was going to continue so I looked for an alternative and found Giammarco’s up in Westerville.

I had no idea how busy Giammarco’s would be! When we arrived without reservations, they told us it was an hour wait. We didn’t want to go find something else so we stayed. Luckily they had a bar that I could visit for Happy Hour prices and pass the time. Right about the hour mark, we finally got called for our table. Our server was very attentive and timely and got Chloe and Alex their lemonade very quickly along with the complimentary bread, which came with olive oil and herbs. It was much needed after waiting so long.

The rolls look much bigger than they are and we were starving so we looked at the menu for some appetizers. Alex decided on the Sausage Arancini, which had cheese in it so Chloe said she’d try it but was expecting not to like it. Because of that and the fact that they were going to get pasta dishes for dinner, we ordered some Garlic bread as well. The Sausage Arancini came three ways as you can see and was delicious!

We had plenty of time now that we had snacks to look over the menu. I asked Chloe what she was thinking about getting and she asked if she should play it safe or try something new. Alex and I both encouraged Chloe to try something new and she DID! She went for the Saccotini Pasta which after asking our server, did have cheese in them, but luckily she said after she tried it that she couldn’t taste it. She tried something new and she liked it! Hopefully that gets her to try more new things!

Alex hadn’t really brought up anything he was thinking about. I know many of the things he likes so I mentioned to him something that I saw on the menu that would combine several of the things he likes. the Italian Trio. I wasn’t too shocked when he went with that dish now that he knew it was there. After he tried everything I asked him what he liked the most and he said the Gnocchi. He’s always like Gnocchi, which I just personally don’t understand why people like it so much as it tastes like eating a dough ball to me. But to each their own!

I always get the advantage of looking at the menu before we go. I saw something when I found Giammarco’s that I thought I might get. It stuck with me all night and I really didn’t even look at anything else. There’s just something about Hot honey that sounded good, so I went for the Hot honey flatbread. I was planning on getting it with Pepperoni but then our server offered the option of both that and sausage so how could I turn that down! You also have a choice between mild or hot, of which I definitely went hot. It was delicious! The appetizer filled me up so I didn’t each much but I now have a fantastic lunch for Saturday!!
