Pat and Gracie’s
As I had mentioned a few Dining with Dad’s ago, Chloe is now into hamburgers which I knew would open up many more places for us to go. Pat and Gracie’s has more than hamburgers, but I happened across an ad or someone recommending it somewhere and added it to my list of possible places to visit. I was debating changing it with the expected rain but realized that there was a parking garage close enough that it wouldn’t be a terrible walk if it was raining.
We were seated right away since we were able to get there for happy hour. It took about 5 minutes before a server showed up which was a bit worrisome in the beginning. However, once our server did arrive, the service was excellent. We had enough time that Chloe spotted an appetizer on the menu she wanted to try, the house made tots. Chloe thought they tasted like the potato cakes from Hofbrauhaus, which she loves! Alex only had one as he didn’t seem to like them as much as Chloe and I did.
Chloe looked over the entire menu, asking me several questions about some of the items. I was getting a little nervous thinking maybe she wasn’t finding something she wanted. But I pointed out that they had a BYOB (Build your own burger) which she said she was thinking is what she wanted. She usually has to order something and tell them to leave things off which always makes her nervous, so this was perfect in that she could tell them exactly what she wanted instead. She was nervous after ordering that they would put cheese on it because, “they always put cheese on the burgers”. I assured her that they wouldn’t since you built it yourself. It wasn’t but a minute later that our server arrived at our table asking, “I’m sorry, I can’t remember, but did you want cheese on that burger?” Chloe was right; Cheese is so normal that even the server thought she forgot it when writing down the order.
Alex decided to switch things up and not go for a burger. He went with the Lake Erie Walleye Dinner which is basically just fish and chips. I think all our eyes popped out of head when they brought his out. None of us were expecting such a large filet of fish. Alex knew right away that there was no way he was going to be able to eat it all, so of course in the DWD tradition, his Dad helped him out with a few bites.
I was pretty sure that I was getting a burger but hadn’t really picked out which one until I got there. There were so many good options and I had a tough time deciding. I decided to stay simple and go with their Bacon Cheeseburger. The kids both got fries with their dinners so I told them I’d get something else so they could try it. Our server said the Mac and Cheese was really good so that’s what I went with. Chloe actually likes certain types of Mac and Cheese and she liked this one. She actually had about half of it! Alex was so full on fish that he didn’t even take a bite. It wasn’t anything spectacular but it was a decent Mac and Cheese.
