Wings Etc Grill and Pub
Our only option this week was to go today, on a Monday to Dining with Dad. I had a place picked out that I was really excited to try. None of us had been there before and the reviews were really good. I pulled up the google search to get the address to plugin to GPS a little before it was time to leave and noticed that it said CLOSED for Monday. Ahhh maaaan! I was surprised to learn that there’s actually quite a few restaurants that close on Mondays. I was in a full panic but then remembered Wings Etc that I had seen on Facebook many months ago. It was the same food type so I was ok with the substitution.
I was flustered enough evidently that you’ll notice I forgot to take our customary outside picture. This week you get the stock photo I found online. Maybe one of these days if we go back for a “rewind” we’ll grab.a photo to update. We arrived and were the only people in the restaurant. We were able to pick out our own table so Chloe and I followed Alex as he took charge and headed right to the table he wanted. We were waiting on right away obviously so we got our drink orders in. As she came back with those, the kids had decided that they wanted the onion rings appetizer so we put that order in.
I kind of figured what Chloe would get and she didn’t let me down. She went with the boneless wings and the BBQ sauce. Her biggest decision was between the 7 count or the 10 count. She went with the 10 count after taking my advice.
Alex took a bit of time to decide from the menu. He really wanted two different things. He was between the Buffalo Mac and Cheese and just getting some traditional wings. After the waitress came back, he had made up his mind and went with the Mac and Cheese. After we had all ordered, we waited, and waited, and waited some more for our food. Two more tables came in after we had ordered and so there was now three whole tables in the entire restaurant. Alex kept asking where our food was and Chloe and I just kind of ignored him. But after it finally came, everything was luke warm. Because of this, he unfortunately didn’t eat much of his. He said he ate the two warm spots. I tried it and I get what he meant as you could tell it would be good if it was hot, but cold mac and cheese just isn’t as good. It’s unfortunate because the flavor of all our food was really really good.
As for me, I went for the traditional wings. I was going to get a spicier flavor for the sauce, but given that Alex was between the two dishes, I dialed it down so that if he wanted some of my wings he could have them without having his lips fall off from the spice. I went with the “Tweener” which is just a step down from the Hot. The wings were very good. They were very crispy and the sauce was great. Again, like everyone’s food, it would have been better if they were hot but still had good flavor. After I had ordered I asked the kids if they wanted fries and they did so they decided on the curly fries. We just all shared a full order of those. And yes, you guessed it, cold as well. But we did bring alot of food home so we’ll just heat it up tomorrow and enjoy it at home.
Oh yeah, so that “pitcher” of beer you see there. I had ordered a Blue Moon draft after having one of their Monday specials of the House Margarita. She asked if I wanted a short or a tall so I naturally went with tall. A few minutes after that, I overheard the waitress behind us talking to her table and she said, “are you sure, it’s 32 ounces!” I think on a Monday night had I known it was 32 ounces I would have went with the normal size but ya live and learn!
